  • Stop Sign request on Princeton Street at Quinapoxet Street and Mt. Pleasant Ave.
TCC provided the morning peak turning movement counts conducted on November 9, 2011 to DPW Director John Woodsmall.  DPW recently brought TCC’s 4-way stop recommendation to Police Chielf Sherrill.  The chief did not agree with TCC”s recommendation based on the few accidents reported at this intersection.  TCC requested that Mr. Woodsmall provide a copy of the turning movement counts to Chief Sherrill and request HPD to monitor traffic and enforce speeding and stop sign violations.

  • Sight line restriction at Red Barn Road and Chapel Street
No update on this issue

  • Route 122A and Route 31 Intersection
DPW Director Woodsmall reported that he spoke with HPD regarding TCC’s recommendation to prohibit turning right on red from Reservoir onto Main.  Chief Sherrill was unaware of any complaints regarding this movement.

  • Proposed Medical Office Building – Boyden Road
TCC was informed that the Planning Board approved the expansion project with the condition that traffic conditions at the eastern intersection of Boyden Road and Main Street be monitored.  Future expansion phases may be subject to mitigation measures such as a traffic signal.

  • Stop Sign request on Cranbrook Road at Newell Road
Crystal Tropiano and Howard Rubin of 4 Village Green Ln have requested a stop sign facing Cranbrook Road in the interest of public safety.  They contend that vehicles repeatedly enter Newell Road without stopping.  The other end of Cranbrook at Salisbury Street has a stop sign in place.  TCC voted (3-0) to recommend the stop sign as requested.  DPW will forward TCC’s recommendation to Police and Fire for their review.

  • Next meeting: March 15, 2012 at 7:00 pm.

  • Other
  • TCC discussed traffic turning left from Main Street onto Reservoir not yielding to opposing Main Street traffic.  TCC recommended that DPW contact MassDOT to review the phasing and consider a leading arrow.
DPW will review stop sign locations in town as there appear to be some locations that were not ordained by Town Selectmen.
  • MassDOT has a plan to improve the signals at the Public Safety Building.
  • TCC will explore the feasibility of installing a strobe behind the flashing red light facing Brattle Street at Doyle Road.
  • Adjournment:  TCC adjourned at 8:15 pm.
